Percutaneous Tracheostomy Workshop

Summary of event: 

This comprehensive and intensive workshop is designed for any clinicians in anaesthetics or ICU who want to learn about the safe insertion and management of percutaneous tracheostomies.

The workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Anatomy and physiology of the airway
  • Indications and contraindications for percutaneous tracheostomy
  • Preoperative assessment and preparation
  • Surgical technique
  • Postoperative care and management

The workshop will be delivered in a blended format, with online pre-recorded lectures, a manual, and a half-day of practical sessions.

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the practical skills of endoscopic guided percutaneous tracheostomy placement
  • Manage emergency complications under simulated conditions
