Event Summary
The Pre-hospital emergency medicine (PHEM) study day features interactive presentations of anonymized cases led by top PHEM clinicians. This event delves into the complexities of pre-hospital decision-making, management, extrication, and triage, encouraging dynamic thinking and shared understanding. The study day is ideal for EM clinicians pursuing or working in PHEM, as well as EM clinicians looking to test their knowledge on emergency management of life-threatening conditions in patients of all ages.
Learning objectives:
- Learn how to describe the initial clinical management of patients with specific presentations of life-threatening injury and illness (including HALO procedures)
- Understand the complexities of decision-making, resource limited management, triage and extrication in the prehospital setting
- Plan and prepare for optimal patient care in the handover phase from the pre-hospital team on arrival to ED
