‘This is the place for emergency medicine’ features real people working in emergency departments in Coventry and Manchester.
Commissioned by the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM), the film is a snapshot of life in A&E – ‘where excellence is the standard and where decisions are made on instinct and insight’.
With clinicians providing the voiceovers, the film seeks to promote the speciality and RCEM’s forthcoming Annual Conference 2026, which will take place at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Birmingham, 27-30 April.
This flagship event will bring all things emergency medicine under one roof, attracting a global audience to network, share research and ideas, learn and develop.
Dr Ian Higginson, President, RCEM, said: “RCEM exists to support its members who work at the sharp end, all day, every day, all year round. This vital public service is often taken for granted and our people often do not get the recognition they deserve.”
“Annual Conference is for them – to take a break from clinical practice, to learn, to showcase their work, to connect with others, share experiences and possibly win a prize or award.
We hope this film encourages fellow professionals to join us in Birmingham next year – from the UK and overseas.”
RCEM is grateful for the incredible staff at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust and Manchester University NHS Trust, without whom this film would not have been possible.
