Applications to National Clinical Impact Awards 2026 now open

16 April 2026

Emergency Medicine consultants still have time to apply for the National Clinical Impact Awards (NCIA) 2026  with applications closing 20 May.

Open to consultant doctors of all specialties, dentists, academic GPs and clinical academics fully registered with the GMC or GDC, this award recognises consultants working within the NHS that deliver measurable, national-level impact beyond their core role.

This impact could include developing high quality services, driving improvements through leadership, educational excellence or research projects. In recognition of the impact of their work, awardees are eligible for pay awards of up to £42,000.

Clinicians do not need permission from their employers to apply, though NCIA judges may check details of applications with employers for accuracy.

Applications opened on 1 April and close on 20 May at 5pm. Final results will be given to applicants in early 2027.

More information on eligibility, the pay awards and how to apply can be found on the UK Government website here.
