RCEM Academic Strategy

The College is committed to delivering emergency medicine education of the highest calibre.

That is why a clear three-year strategy is so important – for us to work to and for you know what we are doing on your behalf.

In line with the organisation’s overall core values, quality and equity are intrinsic to the strategy – for the benefit of the many clinicians we support, and for those who help deliver the academic excellence for which we are renowned.

Commitment to our own learning and development as an organisation is crucial if we are to retain your membership and our professional reputation. That is why this strategy is so important – five key themes prioritise and inform our approach:

  1. Ensure that the College has a robust governance model across the academic cluster.
  2. Ensure all educational activities and services do not perpetuate any unnecessary barriers for success leading to differential attainment and strive towards fairer training cultures for all.
  3. Engage constructively with advances in technology to ensure educational products and services remain innovative and are sector leading.
  4. Ensure that the College educates a workforce that is fit for purpose both now and in the future.
  5. Advance emergency medicine education globally
