+ Event summary

This meeting is an opportunity for all members of the multidisciplinary team to improve their clinical knowledge and strengthen team working when faced with unwell pregnant women. Common emergencies in pregnancy will be discussed, including major haemorrhage, sepsis, venous thromboembolism, seizures and hypertensive disorders.

Learning Objectives

  • Differential diagnoses to consider in pregnant or recently delivered women with acute medical problems
  • The appropriate use of medications and radiological investigations in pregnancy
  • Roles of different team members (obstetrician, midwives, nurses, radiology, medical specialties)

Syllabus areas covered: RP3 – cardiorespiratory arrest, RP5 – respiratory failure, RP6 – sepsis, RP7 – shock, CP1/2/3 in setting of maternal collapse (arrest and periarrest situations), CC1/2/3/4/6/9, HP3 – massive haemorrhage, IP3 – sepsis, ObP3, ObC6/9/11/14/16/17, RP1/2/3/4, RP10 – PE

• New models to provide care for patients with delirium in the community
