+ Event summary

Join us for the first time in Sunderland for the annual PEM conference. We have an exciting day planned with speakers from across the region sharing their expertise on topics including extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation, paediatric trauma and the pearls of point of care ultrasound in the paediatric emergency department as well as research updates and oral abstract presentations. We look forward to seeing you there!

The learning objectives of this event are:

  • To improve knowledge of common paediatric presentations to the PED and how best to manage these
  • To understand the role of ECPR in paediatrics and lessons learnt
  • To keep up to date with research and the latest evidence-based medicine in PEM

SLOs:

  • SLO1 Recognises, assesses and manages the full range of paediatric emergency conditions.
    – Assesses and effectively manages the septic or shocked patient.

– Assesses and manages the patient with a cardiac disorder.

– Assesses, diagnoses and manages the patient presenting to the PED with major or minor trauma.

  • SLO2 Assumes the role of paediatric emergency team leader and takes responsibility for this domain of service
  • SLO3 Performs high-level clinical and technical skills and procedures in the paediatric emergency setting.

– Employs the technical skills required to manage patients in the PED.

  • SLO4 Liaises effectively with pre-hospital, hospital and community specialist teams

+ Who should attend?

This event is aimed at Higher Speciality RCEM and RCPCH PEM Trainees.

All those interested in paediatric emergency medicine are also welcome but the content will be pitched at a HST level.

If you have submitted an abstract, you will be notified whether or not you have been successful from Wednesday 24 April.
