The thoracic ultrasound procedures course provides emergency and respiratory physicians with safe and efficient techniques for treating pleural pathology, particularly when ultrasound (US) guidance is essential. It is specifically designed for use in emergency care environments. This course fills a practical skills gap that’s essential for emergency and respiratory clinicians, particularly if there’s a need to perform thoracic procedures with ultrasound guidance.

Learning objectives:
- Perform safe thoracic procedures in the emergency department.
- Develop decision making skills for when pleural procedures are indicated.
- Evolve the thoracic procedures skills through understanding the correct steps and necessary psychomotor abilities.
- Build confidence to oversee and mentor colleagues during thoracic procedures.
- Introduce thoracic ultrasound as per RCEM 2021 curriculum for thoracic scanning and latest BTS 2023 guidance for pleural procedures
