OSCE mock station

Candidate sessions have sold out, examiner sessions are still open for registration.

This year’s Annual Conference features an opportunity to experience an immersive mock OSCE station, designed by the Lead Examiner for the MRCEM OSCE and delivered by the Exams team with professional role players. All Candidate places are now filled – but there are still opportunities to join us and play the part of an Examiner!

 Why take part?

  • Gain a first-hand understanding of the RCEM OSCE environment
  • See exactly how Examiners are briefed, instructed, and guided
  • Learn how trainee performance is judged across key domains
  • Experience the Examiner’s iPad marking system used in both MRCEM and FRCEM OSCEs
  • Experience the dynamic between examiner, role player, and candidate

Who is this for?

This is an ideal opportunity for:

  • Trainers or supervisors supporting trainees through exams
  • Trainees preparing for future MRCEM or FRCEM OSCE attempts
  • Clinicians curious about the structure and setup of OSCE’s, as well as their scoring, and design
  • Clinicians interested in becoming an Examiner with the College

What to expect

You will take part in a realistic OSCE scenario, specially developed by our Lead Examiner, featuring trained role players (patients, nurses, etc.). Step into the role of an Examiner to see the OSCE from the other side of the table, you’ll receive the same instructions and materials given to trained RCEM examiners, observe the candidate’s performance up close, and provide a judgement against the official domains.
