HSIB investigation into the diagnosis of non-accidental injuries in infants

The Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB) is an NHS organisation that carries out independent investigations into causes of harm in healthcare in England. Their investigations do not attribute blame or liability. Information about HSIB can be found at www.hsib.org.uk

HSIB is pleased to be working with the Royal College of Emergency Medicine on its investigation into the diagnosis of non-accidental injuries in infants (under one year old) attending emergency departments.

Matt Mansbridge, national investigator, is leading the investigation and is keen to hear from clinicians about their experiences, the investigation findings so far and possible national recommendations.

Matt will be holding two focus groups on Thursday 27 October 2022 at 09:00 and 12:00. The focus groups will last one hour. The intention is for focus groups to include ED clinicians, of differing levels of experience and seniority, from trusts of varying sizes and locations in England.

If you would be willing to take part in one of the focus groups please contact Matt on matthew.mansbridge@hsib.org.uk or 07512194003.

If you would like to share your views with the investigation but cannot make the date of the focus groups, please still contact Matt, who will arrange a conversation with you individually if possible.
