Postponement of January MRCEM OSCE

1 October 2020

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the College has taken the difficult decision to postpone the MRCEM OSCE due to run between 25-29 January 2021.

We sincerely apologise to those who had hoped to sit this examination. We had hoped to open registrations today but given the ongoing situation and the need for the exam to be taken in person, we have decided it is best for all to postpone until we have more certainty.

We know that this decision will be disappointing for those who were planning to sit this examination, but we now aim to run the MRCEM OSCEs on 8-12 March 2021. More information will be made available about this in due course.

This examination is specifically designed to assess competence in a range of practical skills in a face to face setting. As with all our examinations we have been exploring if we could take the MRCEM OSCE online, but the conclusion of the Examinations Subcommittee is that the nature and content of this particular examination means it is unsuitable for remote online delivery.

The safety of our members is paramount. In the face of the continuing pandemic and given all the indicators that COVID-19 is increasing in London and across the UK, we are reluctant to ask members to travel to practical exams if it can be avoided. We shall continue to monitor the situation and will provide further updates as soon as we can.
