This dynamic, hands-on pre-conference workshop invites both trainees and consultants to strengthen practical skills and collaborative approaches to front-door critical care. Delegates will rotate through three interactive breakout sessions:
- Cardiac & Shock Echo – focused training in point-of-care echocardiography for rapid assessment and decision-making
- Difficult Airway Workshop – simulation-based practice in advanced airway management techniques
- Complex Case Discussions – multidisciplinary exploration of challenging real-world scenarios, emphasising teamwork and decision-making
By the end of the workshop, participants will have enhanced their technical skills, shared cross-specialty expertise, and built greater confidence in managing the critically unwell patient.
Learning objectives:
- To provide practical, hands-on training in advanced skills relevant to both EM and ICM practice
- To develop confidence in the assessment and management of the acutely unwell patient through multidisciplinary learning
- To explore collaborative approaches to challenging clinical scenarios across specialties
- To create networking and mentorship opportunities for trainees and consultants in EM and ICM

- EM trainees (of all stages)
- Dual EM-ICM HSTs
- Resident doctors including LEDs with an interest in acute care/EM/ICM
- Consultants wishing to refresh key skills in critical care
