We are delighted to release the RCEM Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Calendar for 2024.
We pride ourselves in being inclusive doctors as Emergency Physicians and this calendar will increase our awareness about dates and events that hold significance for a wide range of staff, especially those from marginalised groups. For leaders, it outlines significant dates to consider when planning departmental rotas and meetings, enhancing insight as to why certain team members may be less available or may require adjustments eg: fasting during Ramadan.
The calendar is not exhaustive and continues to evolve.
If you feel there is a date important to you or your community that you would like to see on the calendar we would love to hear from you.
Perhaps you would like to contribute a piece about a significant cultural festival or awareness event that you mark. We understand that the calendar needs to be supported with resources and information about specific dates so that we can build on our knowledge of notable events that we may not be familiar with but are important to some of our members, and we are working to develop this.
We hope the calendar shares new information for you and stimulates your curiosity to find out more about the different people you work with and patients you care for.
