The Royal College of Emergency Medicine Elects a New Dean

19 March 2020

The Royal College of Emergency Medicine is delighted to announce that Dr Will Townend, Emergency Medicine Consultant in Hull, has been elected as its next Dean.

Dr Townend said: “I am enormously proud and honoured to be elected as the next Dean of RCEM. It has been a huge privilege for me to work as part of RCEM in recent years and I am looking forward to continuing to do so with the wonderful team at RCEM.

“I pay tribute to Jason Long for his huge contribution to RCEM and our specialty more widely.

“As we enter a time of challenge and uncertainty, my knowledge of the calibre of EM specialists that have been, and are being trained, is a huge encouragement. I will be honoured to serve when my time comes around.”

Dr Townend will officially begin his role at the AGM in October, until then he takes on the post as Dean-elect.

The College is pleased to welcome Dr Townend to his new role and wishes him every success in his term.

A huge thank you to our other excellent candidates.
