“Every child has the right to safe, quality health care — from the very beginning.”
— World Patient Safety Day 2025
Wednesday 17 September marks World Patient Safety Day, with this year’s theme focused on ensuring safe and high-quality care for every newborn and child. Here at RCEM, we’re proud to support this year’s theme by spotlighting the importance of safe care for newborns, children, and adolescents.
We invite you to explore our learning resources, tools, and guidance—all designed to help emergency care professionals deliver safer, more effective care to young patients.

Join our dedicated PEM sessions at the RCEM Annual Conference to enhance your paediatric expertise and build confidence in managing children in the emergency department.
Do you have a Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) research project or case report you’d like to showcase?
Abstract submissions are now open for the Annual Conference — a great opportunity to present your work to a wide national and international audience. Abstracts are a vital part of the conference, offering a platform to share insights, influence clinical practice, and contribute to medical education. All accepted abstract presenters will receive a 20% discount on in-person registration.
We also welcome submissions on other clinical topics beyond PEM. If you have worked on an innovative research or impactful case studies in emergency medicine, we’d love to hear from you!
We also have a number of exciting Paediatric events coming up in 2026, including our annual PEM Conference, Beyond the Forgotten Tribe, and many more.
