This one-day, hands-on course equips emergency physicians with the knowledge and confidence to perform ultrasound-guided nerve blocks in the ED. In partnership with regional anaesthesia specialists, it includes focused lectures and small-group workshops on key techniques for upper and lower limb and trunk blocks. Emphasis is placed on sonographic anatomy, safe needling, and practical tips tailored to the ED context. The course is delivered by a faculty of experienced anaesthetists and emergency.
Learning objectives:
- Recognition of surface anatomy by practising in live models
- Improvement of the USS skills when performing nerve blocks
- Improvement of USS guided needle technique by practising with anatomical models and blue-phantom models
- Development of extensive knowledge of the relevant USS-guided nerve blocks to improve patient care in the ED.

The course will cover the following nerve blocks:
- Upper limb blocks: Interscalene, median, ulnar & radial
- Chest wall blocks: Serratus anterior & erector spinae
- Hip blocks: Fascia iliaca (infra/suprainguinal), femoral, LFCN & PENG
- Lower limb blocks: Popliteal & ankle
