+ Event summary

This virtual study day follows on from the success of the inaugural EDI Study Day ‘Change begins with me’ which expertly and thoughtfully introduced members to an overview of Equity Diversity & Inclusion in the NHS. This year’s innovative follow up programme offers a deeper and more courageous dive into key current EDI topics with a focus on systemic and interpersonal barriers faced by minoritized colleagues and patients, along with effective self-awareness and advocacy strategies to tackle them.

The strategy of the RCEM EDI committee is in line with the latest updated GMC’s Good Medical Practice and RCEM’s fairer training culture principles.

‘Change continues with me’ will offer a more creative, in-depth exploration and analysis of the following four topics: neurodiversity, gender equity, inclusion and microaggressions, as well as fairer training cultures.

Learning objectives

  • To consolidate existing knowledge and awareness of current EDI topics and related data
  • To continue to build self-awareness, reflective practice skills and toolkits to enable participants to challenge and change their own behaviours
  • To engage and empower participants to identify, challenge and address systemic inequity in their own work environments
  • To teach participants safe strategies to challenge discriminatory behaviour in their own work cultures
