The Membership Engagement Officer is an exciting and varied role at the College as you will be responsible for increasing engagement with members and enhancing the member experience, whilst driving engagement initiatives and increasing member retention.

As Membership Engagement Officer, you will work with multiple teams across the College helping to develop and implement strategies to attract, engage and retain members through events, social media, newsletters and other communication channels while developing content that caters for our diverse membership groups.

Working with the Communications Team, you will help create and manage engaging content for member communications, ensuring opportunities for two-way communications and engagement, whilst also ensuring the best use of emerging channels and technology – e.g. podcasts, apps and webinars – to deliver content to members, segmented to our different audience members.

Reporting to the Head of Membership, you will support the delivery of the Member Value Proposition work, gathering and analysing member feedback to inform development and identify opportunities for improvement. You will also evaluate the effectiveness of engagement strategies by tracking engagement metrics and be responsible for preparing reports for senior stakeholders.

Helping to plan and deliver member events, workshops and networking opportunities to foster community collaboration, you will also be responsible for the production of the annual report as well as supporting the delivery of the AGM and its associated content each year.

With a good level of education, perhaps to degree level or with equivalent experience in communications, marketing or a related field, you will have proven experience in member engagement, communications or a customer relations role.

You should have a background in delivering member-focused communications and events and be adept at using two-way channels for engagement, whilst also having experience of successfully implementing process improvement to improve the member experience. Practical knowledge and experience of updating and managing CRM and similar systems as well as effectively using data to identify trends is essential.

Your strong understanding of what good engagement and customer service looks like and how to deliver this, combined with your knowledge of how to maximise our reach across social media channels to target audiences will ensure you are able to make sound judgments and understand what makes engaging and relevant content for the audience.

You should also have excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to communicate to a wide variety of audiences, whilst being capable of building strong relationships with stakeholders and working collaboratively with stakeholders and colleagues towards a common goal.

Experience of working within a charity in an addition to an awareness of fundraising, would be desirable.

The Royal College of Emergency Medicine was established to advance education and research in Emergency Medicine. The College is responsible for setting standards of training and administering examinations in Emergency Medicine for the award of Fellowship and Membership of the College as well as recommending trainees for CCT in Emergency Medicine. The Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Associate Director of Exams to join our team. This pivotal role will oversee the teams that deliver the candidate experience, manage the delivery of both UK and International Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs), and drive the development of our test item bank. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in guiding the Exam Transformation Plan, working closely with the Head of Education Transformation, and championing innovative assessment methods and technologies.

You will lead, inspire and empower team members to drive continuous improvement, performance and quality across all exam activities, ensuring that the RCEM remains at the forefront of emergency medicine education and maintains its world-class reputation for academic excellence.

As Associate Director of Examinations, you will manage both the Head of Exams and the Head of Quality & Standards, providing operational leadership to their respective teams and act as a champion for innovation and best practices.

You will champion the delivery of the Exam Transformation Plan, you will work collaboratively with senior leaders to develop strategies that enhance exam delivery, whilst promoting modernisation and driving improvements within the Examinations Department.

Reporting to the Director of Education, you will be accountable for the overall performance of the examinations teams and will establish clear metrics and performance indicators to monitor the success of exam initiatives and overall programme effectiveness, whilst ensuring a robust risk management process is adhered to in line with the College’s approach.

As an experienced leader you will be able to demonstrate a strong track record of driving high standards and managing performance.

An expert in collaboration and stakeholder engagement, you should have significant experience in leading and managing medical examination processes or similar regulated educational activities, whilst also having significant experience in governance and compliance in an educational, regulatory or academic environment.

Results-orientated and with strong strategic leadership and people management skills, your ability to inspire and empower teams to achieve a philosophy of excellence and continuous improvement will ensure you are able to lead operational delivery in a flexible and adaptable way with a positive approach to innovation and change.

A comprehensive understanding of the medical education landscape, including familiarity with current trends, regulatory requirements, compliance and examination policy development processes, is essential.

Knowledge of best practices and trends in assessment innovation or exam transformation along with an understanding of GMC standards in the UK medical educational system, including the challenges faced by international postgraduate doctors, would be desirable.
