This study day aims to understand the legal aspects associated with the diverse situations in EM daily practice.

Learning objectives:

  • To understand the legal framework within EM regular activities
  • To recognise the consequences of the financial and personal losses of patients
  • To have insight into the role of allied specialties (e.g. police, psychiatry)
  • To provide a forum to facilitate shared learning to develop patient safety pathways and reduce the incidence of litigation
  • To learn about Datix, serious incidents and complaints

SLOs covered: 1, 2, 3, 7, 9, 11 and 12

GMC domains covered: 1, 2, 3 and 4.
