This year’s SECEM conference is being held on 13 October in Brighton at the Hilton Hotel. The programme is a mix of clinical and non-clinical updates to inform and enrich your practice. The afternoon will be comprised of HALO (High Acuity, Low Occurrence)refresher sessions where we hope many delegates will be able to get hands-on practice at these procedures. This promises to be a quality day of education to reinvigorate your love for our fabulous specialty and have fun together outside of work.

Please note, the catering provided at this event will be meat-free as part of RCEM’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2040 or sooner, and as a founding member of the UK Health Alliance for Climate Change. Any dietary requirements that you specified on the registration form when you booked the event will be catered for, please look at for signs about this in the catering space or ask a member of staff if you are unsure.

The theme for this year’s abstract submission is InspirED, EducatED, RefreshED. We’re looking for 300 words on a project, case or idea that makes you feel inspired, educated or refreshed within the ED. Top scoring submissions will be invited to give a short oral presentation or present a poster at the face to face event.

The deadline for submissions is Monday 11 September at 23:59 BST and submitters will be notified about whether or not they have been successful from Monday 18 September.
