RCEM has two prestigious named lectures which are delivered at the annual flagship conference each year. We welcome nominations and self-nominations for each lecture.

We strongly recommend you read the guidance in full before completing and submitting the nomination form. We accept nomination forms between 1 September and 31 July each year, with the review panel convening in August.

Maurice Ellis and David Williams Lecture guidance

Maurice Ellis Lecture

The speaker is asked to give their inspiring life story as an EM clinician.

The lecture is named after Mr Maurice Ellis, the first full time Casualty Consultant in England, appointed to the General Infirmary at Leeds in 1952. Maurice Ellis also chaired the first meeting of the Casualty Surgeons Association in 1967.

David Williams Lecture

The speaker is asked to give their personal story of their academic journey.

The lecture is named after Dr David Williams who was the first President of the Intercollegiate Faculty of Accident and Emergency Medicine, inaugurated in 1993.
