RCEM responds to NHSE CEO’s resignation

Wednesday 26 February 2025

Responding to the resignation of NHS England CEO Amanda Prichard, President of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine Dr Adrian Boyle said: “Leading the NHS is a huge honour, but it can also be hugely challenging.

“Amanda has led our health service through some if its most difficult times – during, and as we recover from, the pandemic – always championing her staff and the good work they do. And we thank her for that.

“RCEM welcomes Sir Jim Mackey into the interim role and looks forward to working with him.

“There is significant change on the horizon, and he must lead with pragmatism and compassion, to support his workforce through what will no doubt be an unsettling time.

“We hope he comes to the role ready to be led by the data, and open and transparent in its publication. Under no illusion as to the scale of the problems the service faces, and ready to work with his staff, experts, and the Government to rebuild our NHS and Resuscitate Emergency Care.”
