+ Event summary

Building on the UK government Life Sciences Industrial Strategy, the recent O’Shaunessy report emphasises the importance and value of commercial research in the NHS, highlighting the potential benefits in utilising its scale and organisation to expedite the development of innovative technologies and medical solutions, and ensure a more rapid translation of research into practical applications.

UK Emergency Medicine is a complex and diverse clinical enterprise with a vast patient turnover, which provides an unparalleled environment for acute healthcare research. This in turn offers a significant opportunity for commercial research activity, harnessing these resources to both optimise rapid large-scale evaluation of existing and developing technologies, and to offer new areas for innovation driven by the need to meet consistently increasing healthcare demands.

+ Who should attend?

This 1-day event is intended to bring together professionals from across the Life Sciences sector, including industry representatives and emergency medicine clinicians, research nurses, anyone with an academic interest in EM and anyone involved in EM research.

Facilitators will include emergency clinicians and we invite representatives from pharmaceutical and medical technology industries to register and attend.

It aims to explore the capacity and potential for commercial research in Emergency Medicine settings, and to act as a platform for networking and collaboration among diverse stakeholders interested in advancing emergency care through innovative research and industry partnerships.
