Dr Salwa Malik has officially taken up the post of South East England Regional Chair for the Royal College of Emergency Medicine.
Dr Malik, Emergency Consultant at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, has officially taken up her post today as the new Regional Chair for the South East of England.
Dr Salwa Malik said, “I am honoured to be appointed to this post and I am very much looking forward to representing the South East Coast.”
“My aim is to increase engagement in the region by forming an outreach subcommittee that will allow insight into different departments. I hope that this will widen participation by encouraging engagement with grassroots colleagues and also increase the presence of ACPs.
“I would very much like to focus on raising awareness of the different pressures facing Emergency Departments in the South East by holding regional meetings and an annual conference. Ideally, the aim is to showcase Emergency Departments in the region, share different learning and pathways, and ensure junior involvement in Quality Improvement Programmes. It is hoped that an annual charity dinner for networking and socialising with peers can be established.”
“I recognise that those of us working in Emergency Medicine face great challenges and unprecedented pressures. It has never been more important for us to collectively defend this profession and ensure full commitment to the improvement of our working lives, patient safety and personal wellbeing. I am always happy to engage and very much welcome your contributions – please do not hesitate to reach out if you would like to be heard.”
The College is pleased to announce Dr Malik and wishes her every success in her new role.
