Global Achievements

The RCEM Global team has successfully secured funding to develop Emergency Medical practice across the world.

The team has also continued long-standing collaborations with key international partners.

These achievements have included:

  • RCEM and partner – the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, have been awarded a £150,000 through the Global Health Workforce Programme with the aim of advancing postgraduate medical education in Ghana.
  •  The college has received a £10,000 grant from THET (Tropical Health and Education Trust), NHS England, dedicated to supporting the development of Emergency Medicine at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital in Uganda.
  • Continued delivery of the Emergency Medicine Foundation Programmes in both India and Pakistan with training sessions delivered in both settings.

In addition to successful funding bids, the team has also continued to develop relationships with international partners.

In 2023, the College hosted visiting observer fellows from Ethiopia, Ghana and Uganda as part of ongoing efforts to share knowledge and develop health partnerships in Low or Middle-Income Countries (LMIC).

In December, the College held its first ‘MTI Day’ which brought together 26 current applicants from the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia to help guide them through the process, and prepare them for life and work in the UK.

These achievements and collaborations underscore RCEM’s dedication to making a meaningful impact on global healthcare.
