Higher Emergency Learning Procedures (HELP) and SLO6 Procedures Skill Courses

ESTH local candidates – £400 for HELP course and £200 for SLO6 Procedures Skill Course
Other candidates – £450 for HELP course and £250 for SLO6 Procedures Skill Course

Summary of event:

The HELP course is suitable for EM higher trainees and CESR candidates and registrars of other related specialties. It is also useful for obstetricians and surgical trainees. It will include face to face lectures and interactive session followed by practical stations on:

  1. Access to anterior neck in a scenario of Can’t Intubate, can’t ventilate on animal model
  2. Pre-hospital and Emergency Department Emergency Resuscitative thoracotomy
  3. Emergency Delivery in ED
  4. Pre-mortem Hysterotomy
  5. Neonatal Resuscitation and resuscitaire
  6. Lateral canthotomy for retrobulbar haematoma

The SLO6 Procedures Skill Course is suitable for EM higher trainees and specialty doctors going for CESR, ACCS, IMTs, FY2 and other related specialties. Lectures will be followed by practical stations on:

  1. ECHO in Life Support with pericardiocentesis on simulator
  2. Blunt dissection open chest drain insertion
  3. Ultrasound guided pleural aspiration on Manikin
  4. Ultrasound guide Ascitic tap and drainage catheter
  5. Lumbar Puncture on simulator
  6. Peripheral venous cannulation
  7. Serratus Anterior Plane (SAP) Nerve Block
  8. Ultrasound Guided Knee joint Aspiration

Faculty will facilitate signing off DOPS according to respective curriculum
