Summary of event:

Every two years the Academy, in partnership with a member College, hosts the National SAS Conference. This year we are proud to be collaborating with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. The event, on 7 June, can be attended in person at the College or online remotely, offering everyone flexibility. Book your ticket now!

The term SAS doctor includes specialty doctors, associate specialists, and specialist grade doctors. The SAS workforce currently makes up 30% of all licensed doctors, and by 2030 the General Medical Council (GMC) predicts that SAS doctors will become the largest cohort on the medical register.

The conference is open to individuals across all career grades and specialties, especially those interested in SAS career development. If you want to receive practical advice, updates on the recent national initiatives concerning SAS doctors, and opportunities to network with a range of professionals, this event is tailored for you. In addition, anyone working in healthcare systems in the four countries who wants to engage with and better utilise their SAS workforce is sure to find this interactive Conference valuable.

The Conference will have sessions covering:

  • The future of the SAS Workforce
  • The SAS Contract
  • Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion of the SAS Workforce
  • Recognition of SAS Doctors as Trainers and Educators
  • How to manage and deal with complaints
  • SAS Doctors as Leaders

We have over 20 excellent speakers (both national experts and inspiring role models) from a wide range of organisations, including, to name just a few – Professor Dame Carrie MacEwan (Chair, General Medical Council), Dr Ujjwala Mohite (Chair, BMA SAS Committee), Dr Navina Evans (Chief Workforce Officer, NHS England), and Professor Anton Emmanuel (NHS Workforce Race Equality Standards).

Delegates are sure to find the conference thought-provoking and insightful and will take something away that is relevant to them. View the full conference programme.
